Northwoods Bass Fishing Report – Mid to Late June 2025
Between dodging big thunderstorms and hailstorms, and heat waves in between, the fishing turned out alright during the last half of June. We just completed two weeks on the water and here’s how that went -
While most other reports whined and cried over poor conditions and lousy fishing, I reveled in them, took advantage of the conditions and the brief windows they created for me, and found excellent fishing immediately before and quickly preceding after them.
Despite recent heat that caused water temperatures to climb into the mid to upper 70’s, they came crashing after a few recent cold spurts and rainy days. Third week of June, they had climbed nearly 8 degrees, and as recently as Friday of last week, they dropped by as much as 6 to 8 degrees. This surface temp offsetting has been impressive.
Currently, water temperatures are ranging in the 72 to 76 degree range. The thermocline hasn’t established yet, but we are getting close to that and summer peak.
The good thing about our record-breaking heat wave on June 21-22 is that it finally completed spawning across the region. In the days prior, I was still observing a few latecomers on nests. Even t
