Northwoods Bass Fishing Report – Mid July 2026
Long time no post, everyone. Hoping your summers are going well. I recently got to fish again and have a July fishing report to post!
Right now, we are in midst of one of the hottest weather and water temperature spikes that I can ever recall. We've fished and dealt with heat waves like this in the past, but not to this extreme when lake temps are already 80's everywhere and guides are cancelling.
It's hot this week, and if you don't have to fish, don't until later this week. You'll find 80-degree water temps everywhere you go right now, even when you wake up early and arrive to lake by 6am.
Surface temps 80-84 everywhere I went and got to see. Further down, it's still hot. Don't fish if you don't have to right now.
I spent the past few days on the water before this heat wave established and things got hotter on Sunday afternoon. Over the course of 48 hours, I knocked out 5 lakes, hitting them hard from the early mornings to early afternoons, and again evenings/dark. The morning bite has been far superior to the nighttime right now and this will really be the only window of opportunity right now if you choose to fish this week (I really wou
